She was not your social butterfly, nor the wallflower whom wallowed in self pity. She had that force of assuredness and grace of bearing that could be even read as untouchable by some. She believed in Fate and by doing such didn't try to mold the future and force it by her own hand, instead she knew it was far wiser to embraced it with the curiosity of a child.

Fate was actually geared by the forces of the universe in the overall Plan, which was not of man's making. Although kind by nature she had little tolerance for those who would suck others dry in their obsessive need for attention, she walked away from them. She did however liked intellectual challenges and preferably laced in humor. Humor would be the salvation of mankind that he might overcome the tests life would bring.

Her past is where it should be, her present in the here and now knowing decisions and mostly actions would make the challenges of her future in its unfolding. Clad in a dark brown tunic of a good woven cotton and brown soft-tanned leather britches, she came to these lands where Fate's hand had guided her. Her challenges to unfold, her story to be written.

She met many from the lands of Rhydin over time but it wasn't until she met a few from Heathfield that her path took a new turn and she was given a room at the Thistle. She spent time meeting others.

Kathleen was not one to sit idly as she waited on certain things to happen. She needed something besides being one of the Seven and so set her mind to work on that facet of her life. She had settled in, made some friends and now needed something productive to do. Something she would enjoy doing. The idea came easily enough as she approached the Lord Douglas who seemed to be the man to see for gaining a shop. Crystals and Candles were something she was very much into and the latter especially would be of service to the community and bring in funds to support herself. They would not be just the regular every day use kind, but she would supply those too. She had gathered herbs and purchased a variety of spices and oils. Funds left her were used to purchase bee's wax and dyes. Once started she would see about starting up her own bee hives to produce wax and honey, the latter of which she would cultured and sold too.

The shop chosen was three doors down from the Traugott Clocks Shop. The chimes throughout the hours was a sound she enjoyed and would help in keeping track of the day. Alex allowed her to use part of a storage room in the Thistle until the shop was made ready. It was far easier to work on it this way then constantly having to skirt around boxes and crates. Only that which was needed would be brought in as the project progressed. She worked on it from dawn to dusk but took the evenings off to not wear herself out. It gave her time to digest what had been done, any problems arising, and ideas that were gathered along the way to add. The Crystals was an idea added that would go hand n hand with the Candles. Changes made would not keep her ideas rigid but allow that which presented to become a part. She would take her meals at the Thistle then socialize if any of the lands were around. She knew there were still many to meet and the Thistle the perfect place.

Crystals and Candles

 Mother's Gift

There was something about her mother's things left behind to her daughter from the coven of The Golden Dawn. A mystery to be solved and clues written in the pages of a journal for teaching secrets for those born with certain gifts. There was a greater treasure to be found within the crystal ball wrought in danger.

Kathleen started reading the information she thought was just teachings of herbs, scents, colors and rituals practiced by those called white witches. Druids. Gypsies. All were similar in their mind set where nature and powers were concerned. How a gift was used made it good or evil by the one who wield it, not the gift itself. There were universal laws and balances and there were those who would meddle in them and use them for their own selfish needs. There were those who opposed those to use their gifts from the same source for the good of all, hence the balance to be kept. Kathleen would find she was to be one of the Keepers.

Images of the Past

It was well after her shop was open that a rectangular crate arrived and a note from the executive in charge of her father's estate. The house and lands had been sold but there were a few items found that he felt she should have rather than left with the estate on the whole with other furnishings. These were personal items of her family which were packed into a crate along with a painting of her mother that was done when she was around Kathleen's age. There was a note to be cashed that had Kathleen near gasp at the sum for she never realized what the estate was worth. She had made the decision it was to be sold except for one smaller cottage at a lake she would keep in case she ever returned or at least visited.

She remembered the painting, vaguely, for it had disappeared when her mother died when at the age of eight. She had questioned her father on it for she had loved the red dress of satin worn. That very gown she would find packaged in the additional crate that came with the one holding the painting. It was upon opening up the painting she realized why her father acted the way he did when she was around. She stood there staring at herself. She was the mirror image of her mother whom she was named after. A breath was drawn and released as the well of tears trickled down her cheeks. How she missed her mother all over again. She remembered the nights she would sing to her and later of stories to be told and promises of teaching her the ways of the Golden Dawn when she became of age.

The painting was hung in the room with the crystal ball and other things of her mother's. The gown also was stored carefully there hung under one of the shelves where a bar ran a short distance. She carefully covered it over so it would not be exposed to light, heat, cold that might ruin the satin. A finger ran down along the feel satin offered as she contemplated trying it on. She knew it would be as if the painting came alive if she did. She put off the idea for now as the covering was secured in place. It was that very second crate she would find more things of her father, her mother and her long deceased brother. There was a pang of guilt for having not kept Victor alive in her mind as she had her parents. She had hardly know the decade older brother that died right before her mother had. Some rumored it was his loss that was part of her mother's death.
