The
Keep The Keep lies within the inner wall, the outer wall surrounding all. The Gate is well guarded as well the ramparts patrolled. This is where the Garrison of the Guards is in a separate section. The Royal family taking up most, with the Great Hall at the center. There are about one hundred bedrooms, and four Royal rooms. The rooms vary in size and aesthetics. The Royal Libary is contained within that the former Duke Donovan stocked with all kinds of books. From historical to mystical. There is a Ball room, a Dining room and a few other larger rooms for various uses.
The Village, consisting of over 1200 citizens takes up a good portion of the Duchy, nestled within the outer wall but separated from the Keep by the inner wall. Row housing and narrow streets with a sewage system to keep disease a bay when overcrowded. There is an Ordinance on keep the streets clean from debris or a fine to pay and made to clean it up. This is one of the Village Guard duties and seeing to breaking up any fights or any breach of the laws. Streets are narrow with many shops especially in the Village Square, the center of all. The main street is wider than the side streets for the heavier traffic of horse drawn wagons, carts, the occasional carriage and horse back riders. There are three taverns, The Pig Sty, know for its roasted pig. The Court, in a more elite section of the village, which includes dining and alcohol. Finally there is the middle class called the Dew Drop Inn.
The Crestwood Harbor is of a good size outside the outer walls of the Duchy along the coastline. It had laid dormant for a few decades but the ships were kept in shape by a skeleton crew. As counted: there are four Galleons with 50 guns each as requested by the Duchess once the rightful heirs took rule. Two frigates with 100 guns each and the project of an Airship in the making. This area needs to be patrolled constantly for the ships coming in from other lands wanting to trade their good. There are rows and rows of homes up from the docks which contain all kinds of businesses and pubs along the piers.
There is area discovered beneath the Keep that is only accessed by an outer tunnel hidden within a rocky outcrop off the shore. It has yet to be investigated. Some areas were pitch as night with creatures crawling about. Iridescent light like that of under ocean creatures, gave off an eerie light. Unearthly sounds and something bubbling just out of sight. Some walls were made entirely of skull that still had the spirits lingering with the call of many voices for those who could hear, agony, desolation, pain and fear. There were hidden alcoves, potholes and even pits that went floors down. |
